Learning and Referencing are two different things. For
learning, http://docs.python.org/tutorial/index.html . The official
Tutorial is a well written and is more than enough. For reference,
Python Essential Reference is good. You get a Low Priced Edition in
India. Byte of Python, Dive into Python and Python for You and me
(PYM ) are good a read (but not recommended for absolute beginner,
first two do not have workouts and latter more looks like a vague
handout). Most of the Python official documentation is more than
enough and http://code.activestate.com/recipes/langs/python/ for real
world examples. If the combo can be practised, It will be great and
speedup learning.
