Just for completeness, in archlinux, you have 3 repos. core,extra, community. 

Testing for each is separate repo.

And the whole thing is rolling release. No milestones

Just tracking core/extra/community stable, one gets everything latest and 
greatest without worrying about breakage. Things do break occasionally but 
nothing that needs to hand-patch and build the packages. diff/patch/merge 
config files(this is very routine BTW) and reconfigure suffices.
